| Abstract: | 台灣的老街形成最初可追述到明末清初，中國沿海閩奧居民因不堪天災人禍之擾，接踵移民渡海來臺。當時移民來臺的先人藉由聚居的力量，對抗土著番民與盜匪的威脅以確保自身安全，因此當時建築形式多以聚落的形式出現。 伴隨著港口、運河、鐵路等因素而發展出來的市集，卻也隨著河道淤塞、鐵路遷建、產業消失等因素而逐漸沒落。後因開發遲緩，使得傳統老街的面貌足以保存下來。 |
